I AM writing to see seek information on or locate a colleague from my National Service days.

Listed are the details which I can remember: Name: George Robson. Last known address in 1963: 47 Lord Nelson Street, Tyne Dock, South Shields. Age (now): 68 or 69. Job before Service: Apprentice trained mechanic. Family: Married just before being called up, he eventually had two children, a boy and a girl, who will be in their mid-40s.

Service details: We did our basic training at: 3.TRRE, Guillemont Barracks, Cove, Hampshire. After two months we were with others and were posted to 38. Corp Engineers Regiment, Deverell Barracks, Ripon, and were put into: 48 Field Squadron, 3 Troop, as drivers.

We knocked about together as friends with other Welsh Serviceman for the full two years.

The last time we met was one Thursday in July, 1962, when three of us shook hands and said we would keep in touch. As usual with men, it didn't happen. One last thing I can remember is that he had ginger hair. …
