MUM Katie Tyler used to be dogged by hunger and saw her weight shoot up to 21 stone.

Now, following a gastric band operation, her appetite has vanished.

Classed as a volume eater she would tuck into large meals, but she now feels satisfied after a portion the size of an egg.

Thanks to the surgery she has shed three stones in seven weeks and feels she has got her life back.

She now goes to the gym three times a week and has the energy to go bike riding with her little boy.

Katie, 28, who works as a nurse on the bariatric ward at North Tyneside General, turned to surgery after every diet she tried failed.

She said: "Nothing was working. I was at the end of my tether.

"I've been fat since I was 10, but when I had my son I put on five stone. I became a size 24 and weighed 21 stone.

"I tried every diet under the sun and all kinds of slimming pills from the doctor.

"I went to Weight Watchers, but when I went to the meetings and was told I hadn't lost weight, I was so upset I would comfort eat. …
