Murton and Wark Lead the Way Again; Division One THE LATEST ACTION FROM THE AREA'S SATURDAY FOOTBALL LEAGUES

THERE is just no stopping Murton and Wark, the unbeaten pace-setters, and both were in goal-hungry mood again.

In a top-versus-bottom clash, Murton hammered hosts Haydon Bridge United 8-1 - and even the single goal credited to the Bridge was recorded as an own goal, down to Murton goalkeeper Aiden Vout.

Murton produced another immaculate performance in which Steve Turner completed his hat-trickand their remaining marksmen were Paul Wintrip (2), Mike Walton (2) and Lee Doyle.

Second-placed Wark, unfazed by the deduction of three more points last week, were too strong for visitors Percy Main and beat the Villagers for the second time this season.

The Tyne Valley outfit romped to a 7-2 win - but the Villagers, without the services of powerful strikers Michael Dibie and Wyn Fremlin, played decent football at times.

Warkwere given a helping hand when Main midfielder Alan Ryder was sent off midway through the first half.

Wark dominated the game, making the most of their numerical advantage, and were rewarded with finishes from Phil Thompson (2), Jack Wanless, Phil and Peter Robinson, Marc Nixon and Matt McLoughlin. …
