TALLAHASSEE -- Good enough to push the nation's best basketball teams to the limit. Not quite good enough to finish the job.

That would be the epitaph on the Florida State basketball season if it ended with Sunday's 84-73 overtime loss to No. 4 North Carolina.

Unable to sustain the momentum provided by Ryan Reid's overtime-forcing 3-pointer, the Seminoles lost for the sixth time in seven games.

Tyler Hansbrough scored eight of his 22 points in overtime to go along with a career-high 21 rebounds as the Tar Heels (21-1, 6-1) overpowered FSU on the glass. "The fact that we've been right there against the better teams in our league I'm still holding out hope that we can make one of those runs at the end of the season to regain some respectability," said FSU coach Leonard Hamilton. "At the end of the season, when you look back, these close losses won't mean anything other than they'll be in the 'L' column. We have to be realistic. ...

"What we have to do is find a way now to get on a roll. …
