OH HAPPY Day! It certainly promises to be this Sunday when The Songs of Sister Act come to the region.

Ex-Three Degrees singer Sheila Ferguson will be joined by Rowetta from the first-ever X Factor and the London Community Gospel Choir for a concert performance of the best known numbers from the hit Sister Act films.

Oh Happy Day, Joyful Joyful, Shout, I Will Follow Him and Aint No Mountain High Enough are just some of the numbers promised - and the audience is encouraged to dress up for the occasion too.

Just like Rowetta!

"I keep putting my habit on for photoshoots and keeping it on for the whole day because I'm loving it.

It's really comfortable," she says.

"We took loads of pictures and it was pouring with rain so I had an umbrella.

"It was OK until I had a cigarette and people were like 'ooh, she shouldn't be smoking in a habit'.

"In Manchester people are used to me dressing stupid anyway. People are waving, going 'alright Rowetta?', as if I wear that sort of stuff all the time."

Rowetta was the last woman to be voted off the first series of the X Factor and she has not stopped working since.

"When I heard about Sister Act I was overjoyed because I love the music from the film and I love Whoopi Goldberg. Then I heard Sheila Ferguson would be on board, which was amazing as I loved her in the Three Degrees when I was a kid.

"Then there's the London Community Gospel Choir as well and we'll be dressed as nuns too! It's a dream.

"I'd heard loads of different stories about Sheila. When I met her I just thought I'm going to go in with an open mind.

"Obviously I respected her automatically as I loved what she had done in the past. We got on fine, she's really funny, very down to earth.

"I'd say she's a bit divaish because you should be when you are Sheila Ferguson from the Three Degrees, but not in a nasty way.

"I love her personality because I love bubbly women. …
