SCOTTISH property consultancy James Barr has announced its arrival in the North East with the high profile capture of Lambert Smith Hampton's head of office David Nicholson.

The multi-disciplinary firm, which has offices in Glasgow and Edinburgh, has recruited Mr Nicholson to head what it eventually expects to be a team of 10 or 15 in Newcastle.

The new office is expected to start trading by May, initially from temporary premises, before Mr Nicholson secures James Barr a permanent home.

The Glasgow-headquartered business is positioned away from direct competition with the big national firms such as LSH, and instead works alongside them or on different projects.

While Mr Nicholson is joining James Barr, his position as head of office with Lambert Smith Hampton will be taken by surveyor Darron Barker.

Mr Barker, who has been with LSH since the Newcastle office in Grey Street opened in 2002, will lead a team of 23 as the company pursues a new growth strategy. …
