Football: Last Eight Date Is Still to Be Set

BORO fans are being warned to wait for final confirmation of the club's potential sixth round tie against Cardiff before finalising their match day plans.

The BBC have announced that the fixture between Sheffield United or Middlesbrough against the Welsh club will kick off at 1.10pm on Sunday, March 9.

Boro officials warned today, however, that nothing has been finalised by the authorities.

A spokesman said: "The date for that quarter-final was issued on the FA website as Sunday, March 9 (kick-off 1.10pm).

"However, the club is keen to stress that discussions to fix a match date and kick-off time - should Boro progress - are still ongoing with police and safety authorities.

"Supporters are advised that the official website, mfc.co.uk, and local media will be advised as soon as the proposed date and time have been finalised."

Boro fans of a superstitious nature will be reluctant to look beyond next Wednesday's fifth round replay against Sheffield United. …
