NBS Offers Business Support Solutions

Article excerpt

NORTHUMBERLAND Business Service (NBS) is an enterprise agency, with its head office at Wansbeck Business Park in Ashington. It provides a range of business support solutions for a range of circumstances, from assistance to individuals considering self employment, through to business incubation for new businesses with potential for quick growth, together with a portfolio of business premises including offices and workshops.

NBS provides personal business coaching and mentoring, business skills training to help people develop their skill to run a business, and support for customers to access finance that may be available to help business growth.

NBS has traded for the last six years under the umbrella of Business Link for Northumberland. Since April 1, 2007, the new regional Business Link service, Business Link North East, was launched which merged the four sub-regional services into one. Since then NBS has continued to run its enterprise service from its network of advice centres, which now also provide Business Link North East with access points for customer interaction.

Its six business advice centres are on the high streets of Alnwick, Berwick, Blyth, Morpeth, Hexham and Ashington.

Belinda Fairbairn, of NBS, said: "We feel that it is important to bring business support services to you, rather than you having to find us.

Every advice centre has a dedicated team to help you when starting up and running your business.

"At no cost to you we can provide business advice, source useful information, and steer you and your business in the right direction."

All of the business advice centres have available for hire well-equipped meeting/conference rooms, one-to-one counselling/interview rooms and a full ICT suite with internet connectivity.

Catering can also be provided.

If you want to hire a room for a meeting, you can book by the hour, half day or full day. The facilities are popular with businesses, partners organisations and voluntary/community groups.

Belinda Fairburn said: "If you are thinking of starting your own business, we offer structured start up provision. Your first step to self employment is to complete our short assessment, an online start up action plan, which will help you to identify those areas where you could improve your business planning and will provide ideas on how to develop these areas. …
