MIKE Dunn is enjoying the best season of his career and hopes to cap it by reaching the final stages of the 888.com World Snooker Championship.

The Cleveland cueman has won 14 matches in ranking events this season and looks sure to figure among the top 48 next season.

But Dunn has one more major goal and that's to get to Sheffield's Crucible, where he has only played once before in his 17-year career.

He faces Dave Harold in the final qualifying round at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield (EISS) on Sunday, March 9.

"It's the highlight of any snooker player's career to compete at the Crucible," said the 36-year-old.

"It would be fantastic to get there. On my debut there in 2002 I played Matthew Stevens and lost 10-6. I didn't settle in the first session but I played well in the second. I'd love to go back there and give it another try."

Dunn believes that suffering from back problems in recent years has been a blessing in disguise. …
