A POLE STAR; Our Blogger Goes Global on Polish TV Show

THE Chronicle's new Polish blogger has become a surprise TV star in her homeland.

Alexandra Jarocka, 27, of Clavering Place, Annfield Plain, County Durham, has done so well in the North East her story has found its way on to national Polish news. The former shop worker only moved to the North East in 2000 but already employs about 15 people in her translation business Alexandra & Co.

Last year she also helped villagers introduced Polish cue cards for police to help them be understood by eastern Europeans - a scheme which has since gone national.

Polish TV programme 'TV Polonia' has already featured Alexandra three times - and she was recently interviewed for an international Polish magazine.

For Alexandra, who is originally from Zabrze, about 40 minutes' drive from Krakow, it has all come as quite a shock.

"My family tell me when I'm on the TV - my grandma saw me first and rang to tell me," she said. …
