AVRAM GRANT claimed today that every defeat for Chelsea is treated likea "World War" but has vowed to remain as manager even if they finish the seasonwithout winning a trophy.

Over the past fortnight Grant has seen his team lose to Tottenham in theCarling Cup Final and then knocked out of the FA Cup by Championship sideBarnsley.

Those two defeats have hit him and his players hard and raised doubts over theIsraeli's ability to transform Chelsea into the most successful club in Europe.

However, Grant, who replaced Jose Mourinho in September last year, insists hehas no intentions of quitting.

He said: "I came for this job to take the team forward. The minute I believe Ican't take the team forward, or someone else tells me that, I'll accept it.

"But we've done a great job in the Premier League and in the Champions League.We're moving forward. We're disappointed with what happened on Saturday, butthat didn't change the vision of the club.

"I'm not under any more pressure than I was before, and I'm not under any less.Any loss at Chelsea is like a World War but you can look at it from a negativeside, or from a positive.

"I've spoken with the players. They're very disappointed. I told them I tookthe responsibility. They said they took the responsibility also." Grant alsobelieves those defeats have not jeopardised his relationship with Chelsea ownerRoman Abramovich.

However, a loss to Derby tomorrow night could persuade the billionaire chairmanto consider his options before next season.

"Roman was disappointed for the Barnsley game, like all of us," said Grant. "Ihave not spoken to him anymore about it. We share the same vision. I came hereto take this team forward and that's what I'm going to do.

"He's a very strong guy. He's not changed his mind if we lose a game or if wewin a game. …
