Tragic Kelly's Warning to Drink Drivers

THE tragic story of a Billingham teenager has been made into a heartbreaking video in a bid to warn young people about the dangers of drink driving.

Cleveland Fire Brigade has produced the emotional short film about teenager Kelly Woodward, who was killed in a car accident close to her home in Billingham.

Kelly lost her life at the age of 19 when she was a rear passenger in a car driven by someone twice the legal drink drive limit.

Thornaby Fire Station Manager Jimmy Ruse has been working with Kelly's mother to produce the film and deter other drivers from drinking and driving.

The movie, which tells Kelly's story and the personal tragedy a road traffic accident can bring to a family, will be launched at the Learn and Live multi-agency road show on Wednesday at Hartlepool College of Further Education. More than 400 people will watch the short film at the college which Kelly attended.

The brigade launched the Learn and Live campaign in May 2005 and more than 20,000 young people have since seen the consequences irresponsible driving can bring. …
