MINDLESS vandalism has been very much in the news this week.

But far from putting the area in a bad light, what is clear from these stories is the anger and disgust felt by 99.9% of Teessiders, who lose out because of a few individuals.

At a time when the majority of us are trying to do our bit to make Teesside a better place in which to live and work, with exciting developments such as mima, improvements to park areas, the regeneration of housing estates and state-of-the-art business parks to name but a few, why are a few vacuous idiots hell bent on destroying it for the rest of us?

It always makes my heart sink when I read stories like Zetland Park's new pounds 6,000 pagoda, which was publicly unveiled on a Friday, only to have its cast iron seats destroyed by Monday.

But this week I've witnessed first hand how vandalism devastates communities.

Five-year-old children from North Ormesby Primary school saw the lovely new play garden in their school grounds wrecked by boneheads. …
