IT was the Premiership Cup semi-finals last weekend and both games were closely-contested encounters.

Dunston Social faced Barley Mow Inn and there were few chances for either team.

With the game heading towards extra-time, Alan Pegram popped up at the back post to slide the ball home and keep Social's dream of back-to-back doubles alive.

Allerdene took on Victoria and with the scores level at 2-2 after 90 minutes extra-time was required.

Victoria snatched a late winner to set up a final clash with Dunston on April 20 at Birtley Town.

In the Premier Division, Bird Inn picked up a point against Dunston Excelsior in a 2-2 draw - but it may not be enough to save them from the relegation trapdoor.

Fellow strugglers Holmeside look to have found their rhythm after a 4-1 success at Barley Mow Inn.

Holmeside went ahead in the opening exchanges, John Fothergill smashing the ball into the empty net.

Barley replied through Ben Starford, but Holmeside regained the lead on half-time through Gary Smailes. …
