Watch for The Undertow

Adventure Landing on Beach Boulevard unveiled the name of its new water slide Thursday. The new name is The Undertow.

The slide will open to the public on Saturday, May 3.

The name was announced at the official "splash-breaking" ceremony. In lieu of a traditional ground-breaking, Adventure Landing had celebrity and radio disc jockey Robbie Rose conduct the honors along with Jacksonville Beach Mayor Fland Sharp and Beaches chamber officials Jill Sprowell and Anna Marie Burke.

The new slide will take two riders at a time through wet twists and turns on a double raft. The water slide will begin at the top of the existing water slide tower for the Hydro Half-pipe water ride, which was added in 2001. The new water slide will be 400 feet long and will accommodate 250 to 300 guests per hour.
