(FA Premier Academy League) GROUP winners Sunderland had to show quality in the face of fierce opposition to come from behind twice before finally grabbing a last-minute winner in their penultimate league game at Sheffield yesterday, writes NEVILLE PILKINGTON.

The home side went into a two-goal lead by half time and looked to be cruising with their high-tempo, direct tactics and constant pressing game all over the pitch.

But Sunderland coach Kevin Ball switched to 4-3-3 after the break and the players showed tremendous character to come back at the aggressive Blades.

In the 62nd minute, the pressure paid off at last when Nathan Luscombe's shot was parried, but Andrew Galer was there to cut the deficit to 2-1.

United broke straight away to restore their two-goal advantage, but the Wearsiders came back again on 75 minutes with a deflected Luscombe shot and the same player finished a fantastic Michael Kay-Jordan Henderson interchange to level. …
