DENNIS Hobbs' delayed start to the Fuchs-Silkolene British Supersport Championship came to an early and painful end at Thruxton.

The Centurion Racing Honda rider from Guisborough was left kicking his heels after the first round of the series at Brands Hatch was snowed off.

And, after qualifying on the second row of the grid for what should have been the second round on Sunday, he was involved in a frightening crash with James Webb (Padgetts Honda) at the end of lap six.

The incident brought the red flags out and left Hobbs nursing a dislocated shoulder.

Elsewhere on the bill, Norton's Michael Hill (Taboo Motorsport Honda) finished just outside the Relentless British 125cc Championship points in 17th, while Jamie Ferguson of Hartburn (Team Ferguson Honda) was 23rd.

MIDDLESBROUGH'S Paul Veazey was also left battered and bruised after a 100mph crash on his Spanish Supersport Championship debut at Valencia.

The Q Motorsport Yamaha R6 rider was making good progress when he hit the back of a multi-machine pile-up ahead of him. …
