TEESSIDE'S Richard Beckham was beaten in the final of the latest Pro-Am ranking event at Hartlepool Snooker Centre.

Of the 57 entries, Durham's Michael Rhodes was the top player all day.

He opened with a 3-0 win against Dean Richardson, of Redcar (+28), before defeating Paul Stoves, of Sunderland (+28) 3-0 in a game which included the highest break of the season - a magnificent 138 total clearance.

He followed this with a 3-1 win over Middlesbrough's Alan Roberts (+14), before being given a real test by Steve Marratty, from Seaham (+14), eventually coming through 3-2 in a closely fought contest.

The semi-finals saw Rhodes up against former grand finals winner Ricky Heseltine (+21) from Liverton Mines.

And a break of 55 was enough to help Michael to a 3-0 win.

In the opposite half of the draw, it was Richard Beckham who made it through to the final.

He started with a 3-1 win over fellow Redcar player Gary Beckett (+7), and then made a 72 break in beating Sunderland's Norman Leslie (+14) 3-2. …
