IT was game on when 10 teams took part in six schools County Cup finals at Eston Sports Academy, organised by Game Time.

Nunthorpe Lions had three teams competing for honours and took along more than 60 people to cheer them on, including deputy head Graham Parker.

The efforts of head coach Darren Bunn in developing basketball at the school are a great example for other schools to follow.

Mr Bunn said: "Basketball is now one of, if not the top sport for our school.

There is a massive buzz around the school because of the high-profile league and finals event Game Time have developed."

The action on the pitch was fast and furious, and none more so that when Norton Knights clinched a 31-30 win over High Tunstall.

The Most Valuable Player of the game was awarded to Musa Khanye of Norton Knights who top-scored on 12pts and stole the show with his superb skills and athleticism.

Scorers: Khanye 12, Munzara 7, Ogleby 4, Beni, Hardy, Holland, Young 2 for Norton. H Tunstall: Arnforth 10, Morrey 8, Kitson 5, Tyres 4, Guerin 3.

Of course, league form counts for nothing in the cup, especially in the big final and Nunthorpe, although they started well, failed to clamp any authority on to the game whereas Manor Heat settled into a scoring rhythm from the seventh minute of the first half when they took the lead and never looked back.

Chris Coussuns was the player of the game as he collected the MVP honour and top-scored with 23pts. …
