Wolfson Picks Up 2 Seconds in State Track

Wolfson High School brought home two state runners-up last weekend at the 3A Track and Field Championships.

Ashley Bolling, a senior, was runner-up in the girls' 100-meter hurdles, while senior Erin Suggs came in fourth. The boys' 4x100-meter relay race, made up of juniors Christopher Jones, Terrence Bolden, Jeremy Feacher and Vernon Fowler, also placed second.

Freshman Erica Jenkins came in sixth in the girls 300-meter hurdles and junior Jimmy Ajexis placed fourth in the boys' pole vault. Vernon Fowler and Christopher Jones also both placed eighth in the boys' 200- and 400-meter runs.

The Wolfpack finished 12th in boys and 13th in girls.

PARKER GIRLS FINISH IN TOP 10

The Terry Parker High School girls track and field team had two top-10 finishers in the state finals of the 2008 FHSAA 3A Track and Field Championships held last weekend.

The junior duo of Suhailah Abdulhaleem and Anntoinette Dudley placed fifth and seventh, respectively, in the girls high jump final. Both girls were one-two in the regional finals and did their best to represent Terry Parker in the state championships. Dudley also placed seventh in the 100-meter hurdles.

Both girls look to get back to state next year and win an individual state championship.

Meanwhile, Tarver Shelton of the boys track team placed 10th in the long jump to finish out the Terry Parker track and field season. The Braves finished 50th in boys and 20th in girls.

COMMACK WINS HURDLES TITLE

First Coast High School track and field star Avis Commack, a senior, won the boy's 3A state title in the 110-meter hurdles, was runner-up in the 300-meter hurdles and seventh in the high jump.

Commack also won regionals in the 110- and the 300-meter hurdles. He scored every point for the Bucs in the championships. …
