DANNY COLLINS admits he will be studying the comings and goings on Wearside this summer as closely as anyone.

Black Cats boss Roy Keane has already announced that he is looking to bring in five or six quality signings during the close season as he raises his sights from survival last term to breaking into the top half of the table next season.

And that means the current players will be watching summer transfer activity with a mixture of excitement and anxiety as they see new signings brought in to strengthen the side - and possibly to take their place.

Defender Collins had an outstanding season and was rewarded for his consistent displays at left-back by being named the club's Player of the Season by the Sunderland Supporters' Association.

But he knows that no-one is irreplaceable.

He said: "It will be an interesting summer, there's no doubt about that.

"I'm sure the manager will be bringing in some new players to strengthen the squad and that can only be good for the club. …
