THE rise of Hartlepool as a prime business investment location is continuing at a pace.

While the town has established its business credentials through a raft of new development and investment, it is also building a reputation as a leading North-east location in which to live, work and visit.

Its transformation has in part been down to the millions of pounds invested around the Marina, with stunning restaurants, trendy bars and up-market living and guest accommodation on every corner.

But what's also apparent is that Hartlepool is now able to attract national and international companies, whilst also promoting an enterprising culture which is helping to raise the town's self-employment levels.

Key to this continuing is the growth of the town's many business parks and office blocks, including Queens Meadow and Hartlepool Enterprise Centre.

At the end of 2007 One NorthEast announced more than 500 jobs could be on the way to Queens Meadow with work underway on the first phase of a pounds 15m office complex.

Gladman Developments, the UK's largest developer of speculative office, industrial and distribution accommodation, has secured a 10-acre site for 150,000 sq ft of new offices at the now thriving business park.

It's Hartlepool's first speculative office scheme for a number of years, and has been made possible after the company bought land from One NorthEast.

The first phase of the scheme, the 50,000 sq ft William Gray Court, will consist of a mix of office buildings of varying sizes which will be available for sale or lease.

Once occupiers have started to move into the first phase of the building, Gladman Developments expects to start work on a further 74,000 sq ft of offices. The company also has the option to buy a further 15 acres from One NorthEast, which would make it the single biggest development project in Hartlepool. …
