WHITE IS HOT COLOR FOR THIS SPECIAL PARTY; Money Was Raised for the Parents, Family and Friends of Lesbians and Gays Scholarship Fund

The color white has no hue of its own, but rather is the combination of all the colors of the rainbow.

Hundreds of guests dressed all in white gathered in Riverside recently to show their true colors and support for the Jacksonville chapter of PFLAG's (Parents, Family and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) College Scholarship Fund.

The occasion, the 29th annual Armed Forces Day White Party at Richard Ceriello's home, managed to raise $7,000 as guests shared good times and drinks with friends, listened to music and perused works of art.

"I've been very fortunate and blessed in my life to have the education I have," Ceriello said. "I feel it is my duty and responsibility to share that opportunity with others."

He said he decided to gear the proceeds of his party to this particular fund several years ago after taking note that the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community's college funding support system needed a little "beefing up."

Admission to the party was by invitation only, and though it was free, Ceriello asked his guests to each donate a "comfortable" amount; all proceeds were directed to the PFLAG College Scholarship Fund.

Chad Davis made his debut at the party as "DJ Chadpole." He kept the music flowing for the guests as they cast their votes for the annual contests, which ranged from the silly "Most Ghetto-licious Hoochie Mamma Earrings" to the serious "Outstanding Community Spirit Award," which went to Kayle Parr.

Large white floral arrangements donated by Parr of Ponte Vedra Beach lined the living room, which served as an art gallery where guests bid on several pieces during a silent auction.

"Richard's party designated a tremendous amount of money," said Freda Sarega, head of the PFLAG scholarship committee. …
