Solicitor Is Arrested; POLICE REMOVE ITEMS FROM OFFICE

A NORTH EAST solicitor has been arrested by police and questioned about allegedly perverting the course of justice in relation to a shooting.

Paul Donoghue, 35, was arrested at his office in Consett.

Officers took away items from the office in Medomsley Road where he is employed by CKM Solicitors.

Mr Donoghue, a familiar figure in magistrates' courts, was arrested on Wednesday.

He was bailed by police and was seen in Consett Magistrates' Court on Thursday and yesterday, where he regularly represents clients.

A Durham Police spokesman said: "A 35-year-old man was arrested in connection with a long-running investigation into an attempted murder in December 2007.

"He is currently on police bail with conditions and will answer his bail next month."

It is believed that Mr Donoghue represented three people who were arrested and questioned about the shooting.

The shotgun attack in December last year stunned the community in Fairways, Consett, County Durham. …
