THE Co-op building on Linthorpe Road, Middlesbrough, will open its doors to a different type of customer this summer.

The whole of the first floor will be taken over by an art exhibition, created from works by local community groups, schoolchildren, regional and international artists.

The exhibition entitled LEARNING TO LOVE YOU MORE has been curated by artist Nicky Peacock and organised by the regional arts organisation MAP. It was inspired by the popular web based art project that American artists Miranda July and Harrell Fletcher founded in 2002.

Similar exhibitions have taken place in The Whitney Museum in New York and Yokohama Museum in Japan.

The exhibition is an eclectic mix of film, musical compositions, photography, drawing, sculpture and textiles. The aim is to give visitors the opportunity to experience art in all its forms, be that hearing, seeing, reading or even dancing to art.

The exhibition opens a week tomorrow and runs until August 8. …
