WHEN it comes to choosing a break with the kids, taking their opinions on board must be par for the course for any parent.

So picking out a three-night stay at the Primrose Valley holiday park near Filey in North Yorkshire was pretty easy.

Plus points in the brochure pointed to the three pools, nightly entertainment and an on site fun fair not to mention the fact that it's an easy and pleasant drive from Teesside.

So, what's it really like?

Primrose Valley is one of holiday company Haven's 35 sites around the country - you must have seen the 'staying out for the summer' adverts which promise family time together?

Accommodation is in static caravans, you can choose from five grades, on the park which is on a cliff top just south of Filey and about 10 minutes south of Scarborough.

The brochure promises plenty to do, a kids club designed for children of varying ages and nightly entertainment in two show bars ranging from children's discos to live bands to family bingo and quizzes.

There are three pools, two indoors and one outdoor should the British weather ever oblige. None are huge but in the main adventure pool there are slides, monkey bars over the water, fountains, water jets and a Jacuzzi area to explore.

The main entertainment centre is called Funworks and food-wise there are several takeaway style outlets to choose from. There's also a supermarket and a Mash and Barrel pub/restaurant.

The site is set out in two main areas - the Funworks centre at the top; the other outdoor and indoor pools, a bar, the funfair, boating lake and cycle hire centre towards the bottom with a children's playground in the middle.

We found the site really clean and very well kept, there was little litter and lots of evidence of regular grass cutting, sweeping and bin emptying.

Our caravan was a two bedroomed Prestige model which was surprisingly spacious and comfortable in the living area. …
