Issue: Property tax rate

What it means: The mayor has proposed to keep the city's property tax rate at 8.48 mills for the coming fiscal year.

Bill No. 2008-553

Issue: Lawn watering and fertilizer use

What it means: The council will be asked to pass two bills that establish rules to control lawn watering and fertilizer use. The irrigation bill limits lawn watering to one or two days a week, depending on the time of year. The other bill would require businesses applying fertilizer to have training to prevent overuse.

Issue: Airport zoning public hearing

What it means: There will be a public hearing and potentially a vote on revisions to a widely criticized ordinance that would restrict land use near airports. The ordinance initially was to be repealed after residents in affected areas complained they weren't told about its effects. …
