Two Fernandina Beach men were arrested July 18 in a July 16 burglary at the Florida Public Utilities building on Lime Street.

Timothy McEldowney, 20, and Gregory Shields, 26, face multiple charges, including seven counts of burglary and grand theft.

Several computers and digital cameras were stolen in the burglary, according to a report Wednesday from the Fernandina Beach Police Department

While investigating a tip, police said they found three computers and $10,000 in other stolen property at a home on Geiger Road.

Sheriff Tommy Seagraves said in a news release that $545 in steel pipe and hardware said to be stolen from Rayonier and a $1,000 battery analyzer stolen from Five Star Lube were also recovered from the home.

McEldowney is being held at the Nassau County Jail in lieu of $120,030 bail while Shields is being held under $156,536 bail.


A historic marker was placed in the front yard of the Martha Hippard house in American Beach on Saturday.

Martha's Hideaway was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2001. …
