A 53-year-old Southside woman was treated at St. Luke's Hospital after being hit in the face five times during a robbery at 10:20 p.m. July 19. Police found her with her face and shirt covered in blood sitting next to the Pine Barrens Apartments at 11750 Alden Road. The victim told police a man wearing a shirt over his face struck her in the head, grabbed her purse and fled through the complex.

- A 74-year-old man was carjacked at gunpoint at 6 p.m. July 16 at the Safari Food Store at 10006 Fraser Road. The victim told police he was walking to his 1997 white BMW when a man brandishing a gun came up behind him and said, "Gimmie what you got." He gave the man his pocket change, but the man said it wasn't enough and demanded his car keys, police said. The man drove off in the BMW followed by a gray Dodge Charger. The victim told police there were two loaded pistols in the trunk.

- A 19-year-old man was shot by someone driving through the parking lot of the Regents Apartments at 301 Caravan Circle at 1 a.m. July 16. Police said the victim would not elaborate and seemed to be withholding information. The victim was wounded in the upper left thigh and taken to Shands Jacksonville for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said. A resident called police because he heard gun shots and a bullet struck his apartment window.

While canvassing the area, police said they found a 1999 Ford Windstar and 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier with numerous bullet holes in them and shell casings nearbyparked near a building.
