TWO Teesside teens were hailed as heroes today - but like Batman and Robin, their identities remain a mystery.

The rescuers acted swiftly to help a woman who had an allergic reaction after being stung by a wasp.

The afternoon of Friday, August 1, was stiflingly hot.

Just before 1pm, when the sun was at its strongest, the panic began for the passengers on the number 36 bus between Stockton and Middlesbrough.

Something caused a number of wasps to be attracted to the bus.

Eyewitness Mark Williams was on the bus, at the Newport roundabout, and saw the whole incident.

The 18-year-old apprentice joiner said: "I was at the front of the bus with my mam and brother. A few wasps had got in.

"Then there was a bit of a panic - people were saying there was a woman having a fit."

A woman in her 40s had been stung by a wasp. She fainted, fell into a fit, and experienced breathing difficulties.

It was then the hooded crusaders came to the rescue. …
