WHEN Caroline Crawford's numbers came up she was on top of the world.

But her joy turned to despair when she went down to the bookies to collect her pounds 601 winnings and was told her 49s ticket was invalid.

Ladbrokes say she put the bet on too late and are only offering to reimburse her pounds 1 stake money.

But the 49-year-old grandmother, from Walker, Newcastle, is threatening to take her case to the small claims court in a bid to collect her winnings.

She said: "I've been playing the 49s for months and I've always been told the daily draws aren't until 1pm and 6pm.

"I put on my bet at 12.56pm - they took my money but now are refusing to pay out.

"Why did they take my money if the numbers had already been drawn?

"They have a 30-second countdown when you can still put your bets on - it's a joke.

"I was over the moon that my numbers came up, but this has left a bad taste in my mouth. …
