A STUDENT has landed his dream job at a construction firm after helping to build a 2.7km bypass in Northumberland.

Adam Robson worked alongside Wolverhampton-based Carillion Civil Engineering between October 2006 and March 2007 to build the pounds 9m Pegswood Bypass linking Ashington and Morpeth.

After helping to complete the project, Adam used the contacts he had built up to secure an interview with Carillion for a full-time post.

After discussing his options, he decided to take on the role of trainee engineer rather than go to university and is also attending Newcastle College on day release to study an HNC in civil engineering.

He said: "Working with Carillion was a great experience and gave me a real foot in the door when I contacted them about possible employment opportunities.

"When I got in touch, they were already aware of what I could bring to a traineeship and it gave me an edge and helped me to get my job, so I would recommend it to anyone. …
