A RASH of campaign posters promoting would-be MP James Wharton have drawn criticism from residents and comments have been flooding into the TS sites.

Labourlass, on TS16, said: "Listen, I have voted labour my whole life and even I have to take my hat off to this guy.

"It's so far away from a general election that he can't be accused of promoting himself for that and it flies in the face of everyone who moans that politicians only promote themselves prior to an election.

"Good on you for taking the initiative."

Simon Tranter, a commenter on TS15, focused more on Mr Wharton's ability to do the job.

He said: "I think the electorate are right to question any candidate whose actions appear to lack judgment and life experience.

"How can any candidate, regardless of party, in their 20s, with no longterm background in a constituency, not having been a councillor, school governor or server of the community in that sense, no children of their own so no real understanding on a personal level of the issues parents face for their children - schools, hospitals, running the family home, mortgages and so on, ever really understand the needs of ordinary people they wish to represent when they seem so far removed from that? …
