MOST women are a bit sensitive when it comes to their weight.

But slim-built teenager Stacey Irvine saw red when her boyfriend called her fat.

Grabbing his car keys in a drink-fuelled rage, the 18- year-old, who had not passed her test, sped off, leading a police chopper on a chase after smashing into a parked car.

Irvine appeared before Newcastle Magistrates' Court to plead guilty to five driving offences, including aggravated vehicle taking, driving in excess of the alcohol limit, driving without a licence and leaving the scene of an accident.

She was given a 12- month community order and banned from driving for 18 months.

The court heard the teenager had been out drinking with her boyfriend before going back to his house in Walker, Newcastle.

When he made a derogatory remark about her weight Irvine, of Verne Road, North Shields, flipped, taking the keys to his precious Vauxhall Corsa without him knowing.

Zooming away she smashed it into a Vauxhall Zafira on nearby Lancefield Avenue, with such force it collided into neighbouring parked van.

Panicking, the teen then tried to drive off from the accident but was stopped in her tracks when the vehicle was too damaged to start.

Rather than wait for police, Irvine legged it on foot, prompting a police helicopter search that eventually found her nearby.

Rebecca Gibson, prosecuting, said: "Miss Irvine had been out drinking with her boyfriend when they went back to his house on the evening of July 14.

"In the early hours of July 15, she took his car keys from his home address and drove off in his Vauxhall Corsa car without his permission.

"She drove down Lancefield Avenue and collided into a parked Vauxhall Zafira.

She hit the Zafira hard enough to push it into a van parked close by.
