IT'S less than two weeks to go until the big day and now officially time to starting panicking!

Any thought of doing 10k in 50 minutes has now gone out of the window and I'd just like to finish it without collapsing in a heap half way through thank you very much.

I have now managed a few leisurely eight and 10k runs, but whenever I've tried to push the pace, I've found it a bit difficult to keep going. Consuming a few extra calories last week didn't help.

After having a good few weeks of healthy eating, where I gave up my odd glass of wine or lager treat and cut down on fatty foods, I had a birthday.

I tried to convince myself that birthday cake, birthday chocolates and a birthday meal are all calorie-free, but as usual, I was deluding myself.

In my last column, I moaned that I hadn't lost any weight, but later I convinced/deluded myself it was because I must be turning fat into muscle. …
