HAVING watched the behaviour of the Newcastle United owner when he has attended recent matches, I find the current impasse very hard to understand. In fact, his apparent silence at this time makes me wonder if he has some ulterior motive, such as to sell the club at a good profit. If my assumption is incorrect, why has Mr Ashley, who appeared to be such a staunch supporter, hidden himself away from the public? Why did he appoint a casino manager to run United? Why did he appoint such an unpopular player in this area as director of football? Furthermore, what on Earth made him part with possibly one of the best players (Milner) to Aston Villa? It appears the Villa board have more sense than the Newcastle board.

Kevin Keegan is renowned throughout the football world as one of our greatest players in the past and his honesty has never been in question. …
