YOUNG people in a Teesside borough could get a multi-million pound place of their own.

Government programme Myplace is offering funding of pounds 120m to communities across the country to develop world-class youth facilities.

And youngsters in Stockton are among those bidding for a slice of the cake.

If successful, the borough would receive up to pounds 5m to build a "central hub" for young people's services and facilities beside the proposed new secondary school in Norton.

Since June, young people have helped shape the bid by putting forward ideas as to what they wish to see provided. A consultation event takes place tonight at Arc in Stockton, featuring updates on the design and progress of the bid.

The centre could deliver a health centre, sports, arts, support, and vocational opportunities.
