STOKESLEY boss Ted Watts insists he has his strongest squad ever at the club thanks to a thread of Synners silk.

After two seasons coming to terms with life in the Northern League the boss believes the club are set to make a push for promotion to the top flight.

With that in mind he has reshaped his squad and added the matchwinning mentality of three former Billingham Synthonia stars.

"We needed to bring in some real quality and top flight experience," he explained.

"We already had a good squad here - good, honest hard-working lads who could play a bit and had the right attitude. But we lost too many games last season because we just lacked that little bit of nous.

"Sometimes we didn't know when to slow it down or when to go for the jugular but we have lads here now who can do that, who can dictate the tempo of games and the mentality of the team."

Stokesley brought in midfielder Lev Yalcin for the run-in last year and he helped them to a respectable ninth.

Then in the summer Watts added Synners schemer and dead ball specialist Neil Radigan and defender Paul Crager.

"Lev played in the middle for us last year but he has incredible ability and can beat a man so I have pushed him up front this year and he has been a revelation," said Watts.

"He's got five so far and he frightens the hell out of defences.

"Radigan is a match-winner. The range and accuracy of his passing is awesome and he can't half hit the ball. He scored a 35-yarder against Hebburn that was ridiculously good and wouldn't be out of place on Match of the Day.

"And Crager is strong and solid and knows how to organise the people around him.

"Those three added to what was already a good bunch makes this the best squad we have ever had here.

"Plus we have generous new sponsors in Lotus Electrical and for the first time I feel we can really compete at this level. …
