THE IMAGE is iconic. We are back in May, 1971 and Mick Jagger has just married Bianca of the very long name.

The bride looks radiant and happily displays a daringly large amount of right breast for photographer Patrick (Lord) Lichfield.

Jump forward to the present, and 34 of Patrick's photographs and a host of other items including his cameras are on show in a brilliant new exhibition at NUNNINGTON HALL south of Helmsley.

They include that wedding picture but I am told not to mention it to Marsha Hunt who is showing me around.

An iconic image of her too features in the exhibition, the tasteful nude taken in 1968 after the London opening of the clothes off musical, Hair.

She was once Jagger's girlfriend and is the mother of Karis, his first child, but ignoring orders, I point to the photo and ask: "What do you think of him?"

Her reply surprises everyone in the room. "I saw him on Sunday at lunch. He invited me over to see him at his place in Paris. He was there with his girlfriend, L'Wren."

Did Mick cook any of the food? "He doesn't cook," she says but the conversation did touch on some surprising subjects, like Newcastle and football.

"I told him I was coming here on Monday and would be flying from Paris to Newcastle. 'Do you know what's going on there with Kevin Keegan?' he asked. I didn't."

She is not a football fan so knowledgeable Mick obligingly filled her in with full details of the manager's departure, the fans' revolt, and the owner's efforts to sell the club.

Marsha is at Nunnington because she was a friend of the prolific Lichfield who died suddenly in November, 2005; because the exhibition coincides with the 40th anniversary of the opening of Hair; and because of another image on the front of her autobiography.

When she wrote her 2005 autobiography, Undefeated, he obligingly took an almost identical nude picture to go on the front. …
