All Ears for Hull's Talks; Music Also Playing: The Talks

FOLLOWING a rousing gig at Stockton's Ku Bar in June, Hull four-piece THE TALKS are returning to the area for a show at the Studio in Hartlepool tonight.

Since their conception in 2006, the band (pictured above) has gained critical acclaim from the most highly regarded musicians and industry bods - their fans include Robert Plant and The Clash's Mick Jones.

Creation Records/Poptones founder Alan McGee was left in awe of the band, who have now graced his infamous West London club night Death Disco on many occasions, as well as a couple of appearances at his Queen is Dead Club Night in Central London.

They've had a lot of radio support from Steve Lamacq and Phil Jupitus, who quipped "the flame of good music still burns bright in Hull" after checking the band out live.

Last year The Talks supported everyone from The Macabees to Reverend And The Makers to '70s punk pioneers The Vibrators.

After their performance at Glastonbury Festival's Lost Vagueness/ Strummerville stage alongside the likes of Jamie T and Dirty Pretty Things, lead singer and guitarist Pat Pretorius was invited on stage by Keith Allen to perform with him. …
