GUISBOROUGH Pool celebrated its 40th birthday with a free afternoon of fun for all the family at the weekend.

The pool, which is benefiting from a pounds 262,000 improvement scheme, lined up a feast of water activities to mark its anniversary.

And it was all absolutely free!

Activities included free family swimming, free aquafit, free fun sessions for kids and free refreshments.

Paddy Corcoran, managing director of Tees Valley Leisure which runs Guisborough Pool, said: "We're delighted that so many people turned up to mark the pool's 40th anniversary.

"There was something for everyone. People of all ages came along and enjoyed themselves for free.

"And we are pleased to announce that the pool is getting a facelift for its 40th so it can offer an even more enjoyable experience for the thousands of people who use the facilities each year."

The work, which is necessitating the pool's closure from Monday, November 3, to Saturday, December 22, is part of a major programme to refurbish the changing rooms, cubicles and lockers, provide new poolside surrounds, install a new internal roof and modernise the pool's cleansing and filtration system. …
