FRAGILE 95-year-old Olive Turnbull will never get compensation from the jailed carer crook who ripped off her pounds 10,000 savings.

Miss Turnbull, who suffers from dementia, is unaware the woman she trusted has been locked up for 12 months.

And her condition means she doesn't know her savings have been pilfered and squandered by the mother-of-two.

The jail sentence doled at Newcastle Crown Court on Friday was welcomed by Olive's great niece, police who brought Partington to justice, and the offender's former boss, care home owner Lucy Craig.

Partington, 42, of Alston Close, Wallsend, pleaded guilty to five counts of fraud.

She had been the manager of Kingsbury House Care Home, Percy Park, Tynemouth, when she snatched Olive's savings.

Although Partington has worked there for 11 years, it was only in the last year she carried out the offences.

The home has a dedicated staff and owner who were sickened when Partington's deceit was uncovered.

Now it has emerged Partington spent all the money and has nothing to show for it.

She has no assets for the courts to claw back and return to Olive.

Det Con Helen King, said: "I am pleased with the sentence which sends out the right message to those who target the elderly and vulnerable.

"It is no reflection on Kingsbury House Care Home which is owned and run by dedicated caring staff.

"This is purely down to greed and the abuse of a position of trust which enabled Partington to empty the bank account of a now 95-year-old woman suffering from dementia."

Olive's closest relative Irene Charlton, of Hexham, Northumberland, noticed large amounts of Olive's money was inexplicably being withdrawn.

She told the Chronicle today: "Olive had always been independent and never wanted to be a bother to anyone. …
