Taking ICT and Remote Management to Schools; in Association with Mouchel

MOUCHEL has created its national Centre of Excellence for delivering ICT services to schools in Middlesbrough.

The centre and its team are responsible for delivering remote management services to schools across the country and is developing a range of innovative solutions for schools.

There include:

A state-of-the-art virtual learning platform - working with teachers to deliver educational transformation and personalised learning.

Centralised data centre provision with 24/7 application availability.

Largely thin client technology based solution providing many benefits such as anytime, anywhere access with a consistent user interface and centralised management.

State-of-the-art smart-card-driven cashless catering, access control, e-registration, and library management.

Sensory applications for special needs pupils.

Such solutions are supported both locally in the schools and centrally from the Middlesbrough Network Operating Centre.

The team is also responsible for delivering a managed ICT service to local primary schools in Middlesbrough and they too can benefit from the expertise and knowledge gained in delivering state-of-the-art solutions across the country.

The team has a high concentration of skills and expertise in this marketplace, demonstrated by the achievement of Becta and SIMS accreditations and a number of new business wins. The team currently deliver services to more than 600 primary and secondary schools spread across the North-east and the rest of the UK.

It is also working closely with the property joint venture company Mouchel Babcock on a range of other opportunities.

Most recently, the team was named preferred bidder for a Building Schools for the Future Pathfinder project in Nailsea, South West England. The five year services comprises LAN/WAN technical infrastructure; a managed learning environment; a five-year operational managed serviced; a CPD and training programme; as well as the supply of computer hardware and devices.

Paul Wilson, head of education-ICT for Mouchel said: "We are delighted to have been selected to provide this important, core service for the pathfinder Nailsea School and support the provision of high quality education for the pupils and the community it serves."

Across Middlesbrough the Education ICT School Support team delivered a project for Childcare Plus to install interactive whiteboards in all of its 25 private nurseries in Middlesbrough. …
