HAVING given a lifetime to boxing, Glenn McCrory still feels something of a black sheep in amateur boxing but he will not be turning his back on it once he gets his professional trainer's licence.

McCrory has high hopes that at least one of his Northumbria ABC fighters will make it onto the podium at the London 2012 Olympics, yet he is frustrated by the hurdles the Amateur Boxing Association have put in his way.

"I've been involved in the pro game all my life and I just don't fit in politically," he reasons. "They don't forget. We've had a few difficulties, the North East ABA haven't made it easy for me at all but the club's done well - we've had a couple of lads box for England and one national champion.

"They've never really made it easy for me - objecting to funding, they didn't want the Cuban coaches here, a lot of petty stuff. …
