T-U Names Associate Publisher; Morris Publishing VP Is Eager for Return to Daily Newspaper Duties

Morris Publishing Group announced Thursday that Lucy Talley will become associate publisher of The Times-Union effective Nov. 1.

Talley has been vice president of newspapers for Morris Publishing and chief operating officer of skirt! magazine and skirt.com. She will remain in charge of skirt, a free monthly magazine distributed in 18 cities, including Jacksonville.

Morris Publishing President and Chief Executive Officer William S. Morris IV said Talley is an "outstanding publishing executive who knows the newspaper business inside and out. Her experience and leadership skills will be a great asset to the Times-Union."

Talley has worked 29 years in the newspaper industry, starting as an advertising sales representative of The Ledger in Lakeland.

She became director of advertising in 1995 for The Post and Courier in Charleston, S.C., and moved up to general manager in 2000.

She was named publisher of the Salisbury Post in North Carolina in 2004. She became vice president of newspapers for Morris Publishing in 2006, working out of the headquarters in Augusta. …
