He's been there, done that. A self-proclaimed "jack of all trades" with more than 30 careers and counting, Pastor Dan Holloway's curiosity for life began as a child.

One of four kids, Holloway, of the Westside, was influenced by his father, Tom's, book collection of positive authors, from Ralph Waldo Emerson to Dale Carnegie.

At 12, words from Norman Vincent Peale's book, The Power of Positive Thinking, made a guiding impression: "Become a possibilitarian ... raise your sights and see possibilities - always see them, for they're always there."

"While the workshop taught about trust and forgiveness, learning about Unity's spiritual process of surrender felt like coming home," said Holloway.

For the next five years, he would work as a manager in both financial and telemarketing fields while honing his speaking skills with Dale Carnegie courses and Toastmaster International achievements. He was ordained as a Unity minister in 1993.

Holloway has ministered Unity churches in Texas, Florida and Nebraska. Today, he is the transitional minister at Unity of Jacksonville on Lomax Street. …
