TWO teenage footballers are just a kick away from representing England in an international tournament.

Middlesbrough College students Josh de Silva and Ross Gardner go to Manchester next month after being selected in the top 32 of the North-east's most promising young college footballers.

Thirty players will be selected from across the North before final trials at Lilleshall for the England College's national team.

The squad will then take in a tour of Japan and a tournament in Italy as part of their international duties.

John Chance, Middlesbrough College's director of sport and recreation, said: "It is fantastic that two of our lads have been chosen to represent the North-east in the North trials.

"They are two very talented footballers and impressed selectors in Gateshead last month. I am sure they will do well in Manchester."

Eighteen-year-old Josh returned to Britain after living in Australia for 15 years but was originally born in Darlington. …
