OBSCENE language and programmes are being beamed into thousands of homes in the UK, paid for with the TV licence fee. What for? Where are the protesters and religious leaders? Silence! It's deafening!

For many years now, politicians acting on behalf of the people of the UK have allowed, through their neglect of the wishes of the people and their own stupidity, things like sex education for children of five.

The damage to people's lives is non-stop! Politicians - wake up! Do something right for a change.

MY HUSBAND and I visited the Discovery Museum in Newcastle and had a look around the mental health exhibits. This made a big impression on us, especially the Coat of Many Moods, which was designed and made by the Woman's Mental Health Group, Gateshead.

It is excellent. Well done, ladies. Good luck and good health to all who had input to this exhibition. A pity the coat didn't have a card or something to let visitors know what the it signifies.

AS WE approach Armitice Day, let us observe the current activity of two serving members of the armed forces. William and Harry, fresh from a seven-day motorbike jaunt in Africa, are now seen mixing with celebrities at a recent movie premiere. In the meantime, their fellow soldiers continue to risk life and limb in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Now we are told Harry wants to become an attack helicopter pilot. Who precisely he will be allowed to attack is, of course, another question. How, given his less-than-impressive educational qualifications, can anyone suggest he is capable of learning to fly highly complex helicopters? Indeed, there must be many qualified people currently available who are waiting for selection for this job. No doubt the response will be Harry was out there till his cover was blown. A cynic might suggest who indeed blew his cover, but that's another question.

The continued debate as to these two young men's credentials will know doubt rumble on. What is certain is that they are simply not doing the job they are paid to do. In the meantime, other members of the armed forced without their Royal connections are left to shoulder the burden. …
