Coach: Sue Semrau (12th season at FSU, 179-152; 230-199 overall).

Last season: 19-14 overall, 7-7 in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Top players: Tanae Davis-Cain, G, Sr. (15.0 points, 4.6 rebounds per game); Mara Freshour, G, Sr. (12.7 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 2.2 apg); Jacinta Monroe, F/C, Jr. (10.2 ppg, 6.2 rpg); Courtney Ward, G, So. (5.6 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 3.1 apg).

Key games: Nov. 18 at North Florida; Nov. 23 vs. Florida; Dec. 28 at LSU; Jan. 29 vs. Duke; Feb. 2 vs. Maryland; Feb. 13 vs. North Carolina.

Outlook: A veteran group returns for the Seminoles with last year's lineup intact other than former Ribault standout Shante Williams, who started all but seven games for the Seminoles. The top three scorers and rebounders return. A promising season fizzled down the stretch last season when the Seminoles dropped five of their last eight regular-season games. The Seminoles make their first visit to the UNF Arena when they come to Jacksonville next Tuesday to meet the Ospreys.

Key games: Nov. 23 at Florida State; Dec. 21 vs. Pittsburgh; Jan. 18 vs. Georgia; Jan. 29 vs. Kentucky; Feb. 8 vs. Tennessee; March 1 at Georgia.

Outlook: Brooks and Dotson were preseason All-SEC selections. Butler has a much deeper squad in her second season, which makes for much more competitive practices. One of the additions is G Steffi Sorensen, a former Bartram Trail High School standout and Florida Miss Basketball. She's a 3-point shooter who made 105-of-264 3-point attempts for Florida Gulf Coast in 2006-07.

Coach: Jill Dunn (fifth season at JU, 60-57; seventh season overall, 83-90). …
