Moore Still Has a World Cup Dream

FORMER Newcastle United defender Craig Moore isn't giving up on his dream of playing in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa - despite being diagnosed with testicular cancer.

The Queensland skipper, who had his left testicle removed on Tuesday, has withdrawn from the Socceroos' squad for next week's World Cup qualifier against Bahrain.

"I'm hoping that it's only this one international game," said Moore.

"It was great to be involved again, and I hope that will continue."

Incredibly, Moore played in Queensland Roar's A-League showdown against Melbourne Victory last Saturday knowing he had cancer.

"I got through that fairly normally," he added.

"My football gives me something to focus on."

Father of two, Moore, who was released from hospital on Wednesday, admitted he cried after telling his son Dylan, 10, of his cancer diagnosis.

"That was probably the one and only time so far that I've been emotional," he said. …
